FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The Georgia Exploreum is a future hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) museum designed to serve children, families, and educators across South Metro Atlanta through interactive, screen-free learning experiences.
We are designing Georgia Exploreum primarily for children in grades K–8, but exhibits and programs will be engaging for teens, families, school groups, and lifelong learners of all ages.
We are currently in the planning and development phase. This includes fundraising, site selection, exhibit design, and community partnerships. Our opening timeline will be shared as major milestones are reached.
The Georgia Exploreum is planned for Fayette County, Georgia. The exact site will be announced once property selection and development plans are finalized.
Fayette County is the ideal home for the Georgia Exploreum because it sits at the center of a growing, family‑focused region that currently lacks a nearby, high‑quality STEAM destination. Families across Fayette and the broader South Metro Atlanta area have limited access to hands‑on science learning, and the Exploreum fills that gap with joyful, screen‑free experiences designed for children, teens, and caregivers.
Fayette is also becoming a major visitor hub. With the U.S. Soccer National Training Center and Trilith Live drawing tens of thousands of guests each year, the county is rapidly emerging as a regional destination for families, athletes, filmmakers, and tourists from across Georgia and beyond. The Exploreum will complement these attractions by offering an educational, family‑friendly experience that encourages visitors to extend their stay and explore more of the county.
The county’s Foremost Fayette economic development study highlights two urgent priorities: attracting more young families and expanding local entertainment and enrichment options. The Georgia Exploreum directly advances both goals. It strengthens quality of life for current residents, provides meaningful learning opportunities for children, and adds a vibrant cultural amenity that helps position Fayette as a place where families want to live, learn, and grow.
By serving local communities, the South Metro region, statewide visitors, and the growing flow of guests drawn to Trilith and the Soccer Center, the Exploreum becomes more than a museum—it becomes a cornerstone of Fayette County’s future.
We envision interactive exhibits that encourage building, experimenting, designing, and problem-solving — from engineering challenges and creative maker spaces to science exploration and art-meets-technology experiences. Exhibits will be developed with educator input and community feedback.

Georgia Exploreum is not designed to replace school learning. It enhances it by giving children hands‑on experiences that make classroom concepts stick and spark genuine excitement for discovery. These activities also help students see how what they learn in school connects to real STEAM careers, building early confidence and curiosity about future pathways in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.
